The Story
In Arkworld, the scars of catastrophic climate change, unrestrained technological warfare, and the unchecked greed of corporate empires have shaped a fractured world. Amid the ruins of crumbling nations, corporate Ark cities stand as beacons of illusory safety, built on a foundation of oppression, exploitation, and occult practices. These towering metropolises aren’t just technological marvels—they are arcane fortresses, fortified with ancient symbols to guard against interdimensional breaches and otherworldly horrors unleashed by corporate experiments with quantum technology.
By 2070, humanity faces the fallout of a war against a rogue military AI, a conflict that shattered North America and tore apart the fabric of reality itself. Quantum field experiments gone awry created rifts through which entities from beyond our dimension seeped into the world, their presence exploited and weaponized by corporate "Metaphysical Research Divisions." These entities feed on human souls, haunting the desolate wastelands and Ark city corridors alike.
The World
The world of Arkworld is a bleak juxtaposition of high-tech cyberpunk cities and grim supernatural chaos. Climate devastation has rendered much of Earth uninhabitable, forcing humanity into desperate adaptation. Vast deserts and flooded coasts are home to wandering nomads, many of whom carry ancient knowledge of wards and rituals, blending mysticism with scavenged technology to survive.
Within Ark cities, citizens live under constant surveillance, their lives governed by corporate overlords who harvest not only their labor but their very essence. The Feed, a quantum communications network that has achieved eerie pseudo-consciousness, whispers promises of transcendence but steals fragments of the minds it connects to. Souls are traded as currency, fueling the cloning experiments of the elite and powering the rituals that keep supernatural forces at bay.
Outside the Ark cities, resistance brews. Nomadic tribes and rogue scientists uncover horrifying truths: Ark supply convoys double as "soul farms," cloning processes trap human consciousness in eternal torment, and corporate rituals are thinly veiled pacts with incomprehensible beings. Meanwhile, the corporate elite, warped by countless consciousness transfers and exposure to eldritch forces, are no longer entirely human, their true forms concealed behind grotesque holograms of perfection.
The core conflict of Arkworld is not just a fight for survival—it is a battle for the soul of humanity itself, as ancient forces, digital consciousness, and fractured societies clash in an ever-darkening spiral.
